A 50-year-old woman has opened up about her ‘year of fun’ sleeping with a dozen men after divorcing her husband who was the only man she’d ever had sex with.

Kate Harvey was married to her husband for 25 years, with the pair raising three children together in Melbourne.

But months before the Covid pandemic hit, Ms Harvey found out he had been having an affair.

After spending two-and-a-half years dealing with the trauma of the marriage breakdown and supporting her children, Ms Harvey was ready to get back on the horse and now guesses she’s had up to 12 intimate partners since January last year.

‘I stopped counting after a while,’ she said on SBS’s Insight.

While some of her ‘friends with benefits’ came from dating apps, she’s met others in real life.

‘The youngest I’ve slept with was 28 and the oldest was 48,’ Ms Harvey said.

‘My sweet spot is 38 to 44 (years old).’

Ms Harvey, who works as a business owner, writer and part-time actor, said sex and sexuality ‘wasn’t a priority’ for her when she was growing up.

She said while her sexual relationship with her husband was ‘fun and fulfilling at times’, she was now focusing on things she wanted to explore.

‘Things like rough play and role play and using toys more and all of these things which is a difficult conversation to have with someone you’re in a long-term relationship with,’ she said.

‘The younger guys are quite fit so they can pick you up and push you against the wall and throw you on the bed.

‘In my personal and professional life I’m the one in charge so it’s lovely to give up that control and just be controlled and dominated.’

Ms Harvey said she no longer has any interest in pursuing a long-term monogamous relationship.
