Tributes have been paid to a 10-year-old girl who died suddenly after collapsing at school from a suspected brain haemorrhage.
Rai-Lèyah Parveen Saddique was taken to hospital last Wednesday after falling ill at school in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
She was then transferred from Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield to Leeds General Infirmary, but died in the early hours of Monday.
Hundreds of mourners reportedly attended her funeral at Jamia Masjid Swafia mosque in Wakefield.
This was followed by a service at Wakefield Cemetery.
A family spokesman said: ‘She was a hard-working girl who was loved by family and friends.’
The child’s death was announced on the Facebook page of Muslim funeral service Janaza Announcements.
Ms Saddique was described as previously fit and healthy, but the family spokesman said she is believed to have suffered a brain haemorrhage.
The girl was the eldest of three siblings.
Her school was closed on the day of her funeral as a mark of respect.
