Back in February, local authorities in Utah apprehended a suspect in a McDonald’s parking lot amid reports that he withdrew his weapon and threatened the restaurant’s employees for ruining his order. Upon placing the man in handcuffs, the cops heard multiple shots ring out from his vehicle. When the officers took a peek inside, they discovered a 4-year-old boy and his 3-year-old sibling inside. According to reports, the older sibling fired shots in the cops’ direction in an effort to protect his father. Thankfully, the children were not harmed physically during this incident. After the occurrence, the 4-year-old promptly explained the ration behind his quick-thinking decision.
“I grabbed my dad’s gun and tried to shoot the police so he could be free and do what he wants to do,” said the child.
Unfortunately, the fact that a 4-year-old had such easy access to a loaded weapon might be the very thing that prevents his father from being free to do what he wants to do for quite some time. He pleaded guilty to child abuse and aggravated assault last month. He is now serving out a four-month jail sentence for the aforementioned crimes.
