Actress Alyssa Milano began her career at age 7 in the touring cast of the musical Annie. At age 10 she was cast as Samantha Micelli in her breakout television role on the sitcom Who’s the Boss? She has been a working actress ever since, starring in shows such as Charmed, Melrose Place, and My Name Is Earl.

Today she turned 50 years old and took to Instagram to celebrate her milestone birthday. She posted a makeup- and filter-free selfie that seemingly implies she is ready to embrace this new decade with authenticity and grace.

She seems to be embracing her age instead of trying to hide it. “I’m happy to be here. Right here. Right now. In this time. In my time. In your time,” she goes on to say.

Alyssa celebrates both her future and her past. “There’s still so much to look forward to! And you know what? It’s even been okay to look back where I’ve been, where I came from, how far I’ve come, who came into my life and who stayed. Thanks for all of your support and Birthday wishes. Let’s keep going,” she concludes.

Professionally, Alyssa is gearing up for a Who’s the Boss? sequel series. Not much is known about it at this point, but it has been in the works for several years. Both Tony Danza and Alyssa are attached to the project, which will stream on Amazon Freevee.

The original Boss was created by Martin Cohan and Blake Hunter and aired on ABC from 1984 to 1992. It told the story of former professional baseball player Tony Micelli, played by Tony Danza, who moves out of the city to raise daughter Samantha, played by Alyssa. Tony gets a job in Connecticut as a housekeeper for a divorced advertising executive named Angela Bower. Hilarity ensues.

The show was extremely successful and popular in the 1980s. From the years 1985 to 1989, it was regularly ranked in the top 10 in prime-time ratings. It won both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe.

Alyssa has not shown her kids some of her work because it is not age-appropriate. Alyssa explained on TikTok, “They have not seen Charmed for many reasons. One of which, I kiss a lot of guys on Charmed. So many guys that are not their dad. So many guys. So, no.”

Elizabella did see the trailer for Alyssa’s film Brazen, though, and she has some notes. “Obviously I wouldn’t let her watch the movie,” Alyssa clarified. “She said, ‘Mom, I could tell you were faking that kiss.’ I think she was calling me a bad actress,” she joked.

Just like her milestone birthday, Alyssa seems to take motherhood in stride. She is able to find positivity and humor in it all. Age, motherhood, and career are all part of her life story, and she is looking forward to whatever comes next, especially when it includes Tony Danza.
