Keanu Reeves was among many actors who shared their heartfelt condolences to actor Lance Reddick, who died unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, at the age of 60 in his California home. Reddick’s ‘The Wire’ co-star Wendell Pierce was also among the first to express his sentiments. Keanu issued his condolences in a statement alongside the film director, Chad Stahelski. Reddick portrayed Charon the concierge in the ‘John Wick’ movies.

Reeves, 58, and director Chad Stahelski said, “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends. We will miss him dearly,” as per Variety. The pair announced they will dedicate ‘John Wick: Chapter 4,’ which is scheduled to hit theatres on March 23, to Reddick’s “loving memory.” The talented actor was reportedly in the midst of a ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ promotional tour.

‘A man of great strength and grace’

Wendell Pierce posted a heartfelt tribute to the late “man of great strength and grace” on Twitter. He wrote, “A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP.” The producers of the film series also delivered a sorrowful message, “A kindhearted soul, a wonderful human, and a true friend. Be seeing you, Lance Reddick. James Gunn wrote, “Lance Reddick was an incredibly nice guy, and an incredibly talented actor. This is heartbreaking. My love goes out to all his family, friends, and collaborators.”

The author of the popular ‘Bosch’ television series, Michael Connelly, wrote a heartfelt tribute. “I’m thinking about my friend Lance Reddick. More than being a key ingredient in the Bosch show, he was a wonderful person, friend, and collaborator. He took a character who was paper-thin in the books and made Irvin Irving,” wrote Connelly. Ben Stiller shared a post about a memory he had of the late actor from his youth. Stiller wrote, “Lance Reddick was an beautiful and compelling actor. And a beautiful person. He worked with my mom Anne Meara in her play “Afterplay”, playing Raziel, the waiter slash angel of death. He was exquisite in that and all he did. Nothing is lost.” The 2019 film ‘Business Ethics’ co-star Kurtwood Smith described Reddick as “A wonderful actor and such as decent man! Way too young to go!”

Many video games, such as ‘Horizon Forbidden West’ and ‘Destiny 2: The Witch Queen,’ included Reddick’s voice acting. He was remembered for his kindness by Geoff Keighley of ‘The Game Awards.’ Keighley wrote, “So sad to hear about Lance Reddick. What a wonderful human. He was a frequent guest and supporter of TGA, even recorded promo VOs one year for us. An amazing actor who gave so much to games, gone far too soon.” In an effort to lessen the burden brought on by the actor’s unexpected death, Patton Oswalt wrote, “Unacceptable. Death, I want your badge and scythe on my desk at 9 am tomorrow.”

Viola Davis, an EGOT winner who co-starred with the late actor in the 2012 film ‘Won’t Back Down,’ expressed her sorrow as well. She took to Instagram to express her grief, “Shocked!! Speechless!! This talented, kind, intelligent King is gone!! I was blessed to have worked with you and blessed to have known you. Praying for comfort for your family and loved ones! Rest well Lance Reddick…..see you on the other side.”
